Week 5 (MKTG 347) - Tips to Follow When Interviewing for a Job
Now that you know about the millions of job vacancies that occur every month, it is time for you to apply to one and go through the interview process. Interviews can be very intimidating to some people, there are three kinds of interviews that many people do. The first one being interviews that are for fun or practice, where you are talking to people who are passionate about the same things as you. The second is interviews that are for information, where you talk with employees, experts, and information specialists about the industry you are interested in working in. Finally, the third is interviews for jobs, where you speak with employers or the specific person who might hire you.
Now for a few tips that can help you in the interview process! The first tip I would suggest is to prepare for your interview before hand, like do research on the company because companies love when you know more about them and what they do. The next tip is to expect a lot of questions, be prepared to answer questions like, "tell me about yourself?", "what are your major strengths?", "what is your greatest weakness?", and "what accomplishment so far in your life has given you the most satisfaction?". One last tip I have for you is to send a thank you card to the employer, and although most job-hunters ignore this tip, it can make you look a lot better to the employer since you were so willing to take time out of your day to thank them for the opportunity.
